Sephora VIB Rouge Haul

Yes, I am a rouge member... I am not proud but such is the state of things.

From 9-11am the doors of Sephora opened exclusively for Rouge members complete with velvet ropes and smily gal at the door checking names. They did make you feel all special.

The sale starts in a few days for VIBs and basically you get 15% off any purchase at Sephora. Ultimately you want to take advantage of these kinds of sales because they only happen 2x a year and discounts on high-end makeup is unheard of.

Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, the haul:

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation in 410 W bisque
Bite Beauty agave lip mask
Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Gilded
MUFE Aqua Eyes in Blue with Green Highlights 12L
Glam Glow Youth Mud (I'm not ready to commit so I got the .5oz)

I did have to go back a couple of hours after because somehow the gal at the checkout forgot to apply the 15% discount. everything was fixed when I got back. They were very apologetic and gave me a few extra samples. I have to say that the gift today left something to be desired. It was just 6 packet samples (at least at my store) at least the little bag was super cute.

My suggestions for your haul:

If you are VIB or have a friend who is, use the 15% to get high-end items that you want to try but would not pay full price for.

If you have been coveting a Naked palette get one of those. Sephora.com

Here is my Naked 3, which I love.

Or get a nice lipstick maybe Givenchy, Dior or Hourglass.

Speaking of Hourglass... how about one of those ambient lighting blushes. I don't see one in my future but this is definitely the time to get one.

I would also get one of the new Clinique blushes. I suggest ginger pop ad it's beautiful and works on any skin tone :)

Happy shopping and don't forget to let me know what you got!

Parting thoughts:

-I next post should be about some of my drugstore makeup :)
-Costco is closing in an hour so I better go :D

La Vie en Rose: March favorites

Here are my March favorites and quick reviews!

First up: Josie Maran Argan oil, Seriously if you have not tried this, you should! It has been the most amazing moisturizer for me. I have a lot of acne scars and discoloration in my cheeks and this made a visual difference within a week. Don’t expect miracles though, it didn’t make scaring disappear but even my holy grail dark spot moisturizer does not compare.

The world famous and widely loved Urban Decay's Naked 3:

I’ve bee using this palette a lot this month, especially for more subtle looks. To think that I was not even going to buy it! I figured that pink tones would not show up well on my skin but it actually show up nicely and they are perfect for days when I dono’t want a dramatic eye.

It Cosmetics' Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil

I love this universal brow pencil! I use it for more natural looking brows and I’ve gotten some compliments on my brows while wearing it

For the lips: I have been preferring 100% Pure’s fruit pigmented lipstick in rose pedal and Stila’s color balm lipstick in sonya

I bought rose pedal online and sonya came in one of the holiday sets from Sephora (Give me more more lip). I would love to repurchase this one once I’m out, except for the packaging.
See it sticks out! Making it ripe for accidents.

For the cheeks, I’ve been having tons of fun with the Maybelline master glaze blush stick in Pink Fever. It is pretty on it’s own but it’s also great with a powder blush on top.

Girl Meets Palette: My first impression

Now that I've had some time to just admire the beauty that is Too Faced à la mode Eyes, I can now play with it. I've only used it once so this is definitely a first impressions and not a review. A review will come later :)

These are the shadows swatched on my Medium/Tan skin. I've never been matched at MAC but I should be NC37/NC40. Every shade except St Tropez shows up nicely on my skin and I am especially impressed with how gorgeous Soleil and Côte d'Azure are.

The look I went with today:
Riviera on the browbone and inner corner
Jardin in the inner third
Cannes in the rest of the lid
Soleil on the crease then I mixed in a bit of Côte d'Azure
Cannes again as a transition
Jardin and Soleil on the lower lashline

I am very happy with the look. It will be perfect for the Spring and Summer! On the other hand not all the shadows were great. Cannes was REALLY flaky even with a base; thought I was still able to work with it. Jardin did not show up as much as I hoped it would, but Soleil and Côte d'Azure are beautiful an I found them easy to work with. I will have to try Monaco and De La Mer in a look tomorrow :)

All of the products I used:

Product list:
Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer potion
NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk
NYX Le Frou Frou mascara
No 7 Amazing Eyes Pencil in 05 Black
I also used the brush that came with the NKED 3 palette

Finally, in case you are interested in the looks that the palette comes with:

I love that Too Faced includes looks with their palettes. They are a great way to start playing with the palette and a huge help when one is starting out with makeup and palettes.

What looks have you guys come up with? I would love to see them so share your thoughts and I would love to check out your blogs if you've done a look with this à la mode Eyes.

Aux Champs-Elysées aka My Latest Haul

I could not resist when I saw that Ulta had the latest Summer palette by Too Faced!

Don't these pretties look divine? I cannot wait to play with them. They really got me with the packaging but also with the convenience of having these colors/bronzers so easily accessible in one palette.

I will most likely be playing with à la mode first. The colors are just perfect! I will let you all know how they perform but the quality of Too Faced palettes is usually excellent. Get à la mode from Ulta.com for $36

Because of my medium/tan skin tone I don't usually do a lot of contouring but these guys are screaming to be used :) You can find Bonjour Soleil from Ulta.com for $44

Has anyone picked these up yet? Let me know and share your thoughts!

At the Guillotine!

Hi everyone,

Today I am reviewing one product from LUSH, and I hope that my thoughts are useful. I am calling these kinds of posts: At the guillotine because products will either be sent to it or not ;)

First up at the guillotine: LUSH’s Dreamwash shower smoothie LUSH dreamwash

I’ve been using this for about a month and I am almost out. It is supposed to be gentle shower soap with aloe vera gel. At the recommendation of the gal at the store I’ve been using it as a shaving cream. My legs are really sensitive but the product has been cooling and soothing just as it claims to be. I am very happy!

The only issue for me is the price: at $22.95 it is pricy! In comparison my legs really love the CVS shaving cream that is almost $20 less. So will I re-purchase Dreamwash? As tempted, as I am to eat cake, I don’t think so. Maybe as a treat from time to time but I am not going to rush out.

What is your favorite LUSH product?

Parting thoughts:
-The French Revolution is fun. Did you know that there were several revolution between 1798 and Napoleon?
-Marie-Antoinette never said, “Let them eat cake” but the phrase fits so perfectly with the public image of her.
-Have a great Saint-Patrick’s day and don’t for get to wear green!
